Washington Salmon and Steelhead
Fishing Guide
Thanks
for checking us out. We invite you to join us on some of
the most productive waters Washington State has to offer
the fishing sportsmen and enthusiasts. We target some of
the most sought after fishing destinations for salmon, steelhead,
and other game fish.
Onco
Sportfishing offers spring, summer, fall, and winter fishing.
We start the year out in Fork's, Washington drifting
the white water rivers through the lush rain forests of
the Olympic Peninsula, (freshwater fishing), and matching
wits with wild salmon or
trophy steelhead. In the
spring we are fishing the Columbia River from Cathlamet,
I-5 at Portland to the Bonneville Dam chasing the Spring
Kings in our jet sled. These are a prized fish, the
first to enter the river, full of fat, succulent, and some
of the best eating salmon
Washington State has to offer. Next we offer power
boat trips, (our Washington Salmon charters), searching
the protected waters of Neah Bay, Sekiu and Puget
Sound, (saltwater fishing), chasing Chinook,
Coho, chum,
Humpies, or the cutthroat
trout. In the fall we are based and run our trips out
of Chinook, Washington fishing on the Columbia River at
Buoy 10 near Astoria, Long beach, and Illwaco, targeting
the Chinook, and Coho.
After the Fall Salmon on the lower Columbia River we move
our operation to the South East corner of Washington State
to another major river, the famous Snake River out
of Heller Bar just 30 miles South of Clarkston and Lewiston
for lots of Steelhead, some oversized sturgeon and we do
a little bird hunting while there. We also fish the Cowlitz
River for Winter Steelhead, Spring Salmon, Summer Steelhead,
and Fall Salmon. Join us on any one of these destinations
and enjoy the beauty and fishing bounties Washington state
and the Pacific Northwest provide.
Anglers of all ages and abilities
are welcome at Onco Sportfishing and we will furnish you
with all the bait and tackle needed. We use only the finest
of equipment, including G-Loomis fishing rods, Gamakatsu
hooks, Shimano and Ambassadeur reels. We use Yakima bait
products, Berkley products, Stren fishing line and Izorline.
Onco Sportfishing provides a heated 16' Willie Drift Boat
that can accommodate two anglers for the white water fishing
trips, a 22' Willie Asaltor that seats up to four for our
saltwater charters and at Buoy 10, and a 23 foot Alumaweld
Super Vee Jet boat that seats up to six anglers for the
bigger rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
Any guide or Charter captain that
works for us, including myself, is full time and licensed
in Washington State for salmon steelhead, and trout. All
our skippers are Coast Guard licensed captains and I personally
hold a 100-ton Captains license that allows me to operate
upon near coastal waters of the United States. Onco Sportfishing
owns a Washington State Charter license with six angling,
(rod), permits. We are also insured, CPR and First Aid certified,
hold a TWIC card, and carry all the documentations on our
vessels to prove it. I am a Pro staff member of the Pure
Fishing Captain and Guide Program, C.A.P.S., (Charter boat
Association of Puget Sound), and a NACO, (National Association
of Charter boat Operators), member. Our priority is your
safety, success, and enjoyment while fishing with Onco Sportfishing.
We
can offer you multiple day or custom fishing excursions.
Bed & Breakfasts or motels are the norm for multiple day
bookings. Custom trips are available so let us know what
your needs are. Plan ahead so we can customize a trip to
suit your needs. Taking a guided trip is a great way to
enjoy the outdoors, learn the river, or spend time with
a friend, loved one, or a business associate. Corporate
accounts are available.
Although our site's primary focus is on our Washington
fishing guide services, feel free to kick your shoes
off and browse around a bit. We'll try to make your stay
worthwhile. We provide pages where you can find information
on the types of fish that we are catching, tips for preserving
and preparing your catch, weather links, fishing reports,
and other information you might find useful.
